- HYDROGEN URBAN STATION -

Urban network of bottle filling stations.

For the application of hydrogen as fuel in vehicles of the municipality, a number of bottle filling stations will be built at selected points within the urban fabric. The charging procedure of hydrogen to cars takes about 3 minutes. The hydrogen is cooled and compressed on the spot by pressure of 35 MPa with about 10-20% extra margin for cases of recharging. Contrarily to this, in case supply pressure of 70-80 MPa is needed, hydrogen must be precooled, otherwise the above compression cannot be achieved inside the bottle. Hydrogen compressor can accept a range of pressures at its inlet ranging of 10 bar to 18 bar, but if the hydrogen pressure drops below the low limit, the compressor automatically stops its operation. The pressurized flow of hydrogen depends on the inlet and outlet pressures. Each bottle has a volume of 50 lt and a capacity of 0.8 kg H2 (9 Nm3), whereby the maximum storable amount of hydrogen at high pressure is 11 kg (126 Nm3).

Station’s structure.

One hydrogen bottle filling station consists of the following equipment:
* Tank container of 40 ft.
* Hydrogen compressor.
* Distributors with three outlets for individual bottles or battery pack of bottles. It is a high-pressure device connected via counter-explosive flexible coupling which includes the necessary insurance and measuring instruments.
* Pneumatic safety system consisting of valves that close the network in case of emergency.
* Cooling system.
* Shed.
